Industry Insights — Interview with Radu Moldovan, ROEL

⚡ Renewable Energy · Interview Series

“An event such as GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC is exactly where technology moves beyond the catalogue and gets in front of the people making the decisions: installers, project developers and investors.”

— Radu Moldovan, Key Account Manager – Sales Department, ROEL

Radu Moldovan, Key Account Manager – Sales Department, ROEL, shares his perspective on the development of Romania’s renewable energy sector in the latest interview in our “Industry Insights” series.

From solar, energy storage and wind to energy efficiency, geothermal, hydrogen, e-mobility and digitalisation, Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec connects technology with the projects where it can be put to work.

“We came back because it is one of the few places where we can find the entire market relevant to our business under one roof, and the conversations we have had there have often turned into concrete partnerships with installers and system integrators.”

1

How do you think Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec contributes to accelerating the energy transition and the adoption of new technologies?

An event such as Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec is exactly where technology moves beyond the catalogue and gets in front of the people making the decisions: installers, project developers and investors. The opportunity to see and test equipment firsthand, talk directly to manufacturers and distributors, and compare solutions side by side significantly shortens the journey from ‘new technology’ to ‘adopted technology’. For us, it is also an excellent opportunity to demonstrate, in practical terms, how a photovoltaic system can be integrated with Solinteg or Far East Battery storage and EV charging into one coherent solution for the customer.

2

What value did your participation in previous editions bring, and what made you decide to return as an exhibitor at Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec 2027?

Participating in previous editions gave us direct access to installers and project developers from across the country, immediate feedback on real-world needs and the opportunity to showcase our inverter, energy storage and EV charging portfolio live. We came back because it is one of the few places where we can find the entire market relevant to our business under one roof, and the conversations we have had there have often turned into concrete partnerships with installers and system integrators.

3

What is the biggest opportunity Romania is missing today in the energy sector?

I believe energy storage is the opportunity Romania is missing out on the most right now. We have excellent solar potential and a steadily growing market, yet many installations are still ‘PV-only’, without a storage component that can turn intermittent generation into energy available whenever it is needed. That is why we also work with Far East Battery (FEB), a manufacturer dedicated exclusively to LiFePO4 batteries. In installations already completed in Romania using FEB together with Solinteg and Hoymiles, we can clearly see how much greater a consumer’s energy independence can be and how much more they can reduce their electricity bill when storage is considered from the outset rather than added later. It is an opportunity we are missing more because of a lack of awareness than because the technology is unavailable on the market.

4

What change could completely transform the energy market over the next five years?

I believe the digitalisation of energy management will be the most important change. The latest-generation hybrid inverters from Solinteg and Hoymiles can already respond automatically to dynamic electricity prices, optimise consumption in 15-minute intervals and be monitored remotely through dedicated cloud platforms. All this intelligence, however, needs a solid energy storage foundation, and this is where a manufacturer such as FEB adds real value – without a reliable battery, everything ‘smart’ remains just theory. Once this capability becomes standard rather than a premium option, Romania’s energy market will change dramatically.

5

What is your prediction for the energy sector through 2036?

I expect prosumers – both residential and industrial – to become the rule rather than the exception, with photovoltaics, energy storage and EV charging infrastructure designed and installed as a single ecosystem rather than as separate products. Solinteg and Hoymiles are already demonstrating this direction through solutions designed to work together rather than in isolation, while partners such as Far East Battery (FEB) support this ecosystem with dedicated, high-capacity batteries designed for long service life. Costs will continue to fall, grids will become more flexible, and in a decade I believe we will be looking at a mature sector supported by strong nationwide maintenance and technical support services.

The solutions transforming the energy sector deserve to be seen.

If your company’s portfolio includes technologies and solutions for renewable energy, Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec 2027 is where you can put them in front of energy producers, investors, public authorities and industry partners.
